Life sure has felt extra heavy these last few years. And I have myself to blame for a lot of it. But I also have myself to forgive. Because without forgiveness, I can never grow into my best self.

I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for years. I’ve always listened to that voice in my head saying I’m worthless and hated. And guess what that did? It created a life where I made terrible decisions and caused others to feel hatred towards me. I’ve experienced some of my darkest days over the last few years and suicide is something I considered more than I’d like to admit. But God didn’t want that for me. And he doesn’t want that for you.

A few months ago I had what I’d like to think was my last suicidal thought. My mind went to a dark place and I knew there was no way out but to end my life. I planned my escape. But God had other plans for me. It was the first time that I truly felt He spoke to me. He saved me. I won’t get into the details of the encounter today but it was one of the most life changing experiences I’ve ever had. And I’m so grateful He showed up. Even when I knew I didn’t deserve Him, He loved me anyways. He took my fears away and told me everything would be okay. And He forgave me.

Life is tough, but so are you. And He will always be there to love and forgive you. There’s no such thing as being too far gone in His eyes. So don’t give up the fight. Don’t throw in the towel. You are tough and prepared to get through anything life throws at you. For me, turning to God during my darkest time saved me and I am forever grateful for that. I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for Him.

This is all to say, Happy 31 years of life to me. I am proud of myself for making it another year. ❤️
