The girls get therapies several times a week! They receive physical, occupation, speech, and feeding therapies! Being a special needs parent is harder some days than others. It’s a hard pill to swallow that you’ll miss out on some really fun experiences with your child(ren) because they have disabilites. And I’ve learned it’s ok to have those feelings, and feel the grief when it hits. The girls skulls may have looked funny after separation, but it was only cosmetic. They were separated that way because of how they were conjoined. They shared skull, lots of blood vessels, a very large blood vessel, and a small portion of their brains. But they made it through surgery, and were able to get reconstruction done a few years later. They couldnt get reconstructed at the time of separation because of their brains having swelled and needing to heal.
