An experiment in subtle color; if you know my work at all, you know I tend to use the natural colors of wool-- white, cream, brown, grey-- but I'll confess I'm finding myself interested in more... colorful colors and how they can make you feel. For this piece I was hoping the backside would cast pink light against the wall. I left gaps at the top, bottom, and sides to let light in and out. Here's my second reflected-color experiment. The ripple effect comes from the way I cut out flat half-moons and straighten out their concave edges. I think it's beautiful (especially in its simplicity), and mimics a lot of forms found in nature. I do not need all the young men out there to helpfully tell me it looks like female anatomy, although I'm sure they will. You can see it IN PERSON this weekend (Dec 10&11) in SJ, CA- link in bio.

It's constructed solely of hand-stitched slabs of 3/8-inch-thick felt, over stretcher bars.
